What this semester brings...

I think this might actually be the first year in my entire life that i ACTUALLY am excited to do my assignments.

Im doing a Film course in Sutherland and i got alot of itneresting assessments and projects to do throughout this semester. Maybe the workload hasn't hit me yet as it's only the first week of class, but here's what is needed from me before June this year:

Video Production - Chase Sequence Exam

I get 10 minutes of set-up time and 30 minutes of filming time. What i need to do in these 40 minutes, is come up with a good chase sequence using all of the camera techniques that i'll be learning in class. This has to be done in TAFE as it is a test, and its basically just a chase sequence about anything really. One person chasing the other etc etc.

The qoute 'This is all a big mistake' has to be used by my actors and i am not allowed to run with the camera. Therefore forcing me to come up with a bunch of smart and planned shots.

Audio Editing - Musique Concrete

For my Audio Editing class i have to come up with thing called a 'Musique Concrete', which basically is a whole bunch of sound effects put together to make a rythm. You guys ever seen that video on the net of that white dude with an afro, who editing a whole bunch of different shots of him making noises and made it into a cool music thing. Well, thats what i need to do but only using audio. I can choose to get sound effects from the computers in class or i can record them myself using the Foley recording studion in TAFE.

Audio & Video Editing - Sounds Onto Trailer

What i have to do for this project is get myself a movie trailer. Any movie trailer that has already been made is fine. I need to only have the video of the trailer, no sound. I need to edit in my own sound effects into the trailer. Making it sound as real as possible. So if, in the trailer, someone is slowly opening a door. I have to edit in a sound effect of a creaking door at the right time.

Video Production - Short Film

This is the big one. The one that all those little ones end up helping out in. In this project i have to come up with my own short film. This can either be a narrative or a documentary. If you dont know what a short film is type TROPFEST into google and look for the bubble boy short film. It's pretty much what a short film is and is awesome in its own way. I have to use everything i learn to make this film and can be used to enter film festivals and put into my portofolio to help my broke ass get a job.




There is also a couple of other projects but smaller ones with not much weighting into my final mark. So im fucking excited to do some of these and will definatley be posting them up for you guys to see

I would love to make a movie fantasy style....but not anytime soon.

Maybe later when i have an actual career in this. Right now i'll stick with making B-grade short films for practice

Had to draw up a small storyboard for tomoro's class.

I chose to do a simple cliche story about a guy who likes a girl from his TAFE. He doesnt know how to go up to her, because she is extremely out of his league and he fears for rejection. He comes up with a plan to get her a present to seduce her into liking him. He decides on getting her some shitty flowers from a bush near-by.

He doubts that she will like them and will most probably throw them into his face, so he goes to find his best mate. He asks his best mate for advice. They decide on writing her a nice poem which the best mate writes for him.
He walks out into the open again feeling new hope and looking all like the hero that he is. His chin hits the ground when he sees her talking to a good looking bloke.

He appears to have failed. But no. He doesn't want to give up. He walks up to the two characters, jumps infront of the girls and starts reading her this lovely poem. She is amazed. She now is automatically in love with him. They walk off into the distance leaving the rival boy angry and un-amused by the situation.

Cheesy story i know. But a story nonetheless. This is all put into 9 frames. Just like the frames on a comic.

I had to plan each one of my shots, camera angels and all. So what i will have tomoro is basically a comic. With my nine frames with my characters (real people) in them and little speech bubbles and narrative boxes to tell the story to the audience.

Pretty nifty i recon. I'll try getting a copy and putting it up here for you guys to see

nice nice seems fun.. me atm not doing much casue we got new teachers who never been the Miller tafe so are fuking lost and confused... bu ye just learing to rip apart comps

Okay so the teacher decided to put a little spin on this Comic thing and make it into a small Assignment for beginning of March.

I now have 12 frames to put this story into. I can get background off the net. I have to take my own pics of my actors which ill get some of you dudes to do very soon. I gotta cut my actors out of pictures and stick them onto the backgrounds.....I got some really good ideas running through my head on making this really artistic and wacky. Will post more on it later.
